Taylor Sheridan Reminds Paramount+ Who Owns the Streamer

Taylor Sheridan has done it again. The prolific creator, already synonymous with modern neo-Westerns, has delivered Paramount+ its most-watched original series to date with Landman. The first season pulled in 35 million global streaming viewers, including 14.9 million in its first four weeks — numbers that eclipse Sheridan’s own heavy hitters. For comparison, Yellowstone’s first season drew 12.1 million, 1923 landed 11.9 million, Tulsa King reached 8.4 million, and Lioness 7.8 million.

For Paramount+, Landman isn’t just another Sheridan win — it’s a franchise-launching milestone. And with Season 2 premiering November 16, 2025, just a year after the debut season, the series is defying the industry trend of extended gaps between seasons. A season a year? What a concept! What makes the success of Landman even more surprising is how its viewership has outpaced critical reception.

Reviews for the first season were mixed-to-positive, averaging out to a respectable 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. That score may not scream prestige, but it’s considerably better than Yellowstone’s 58% first-season score — a reminder that Sheridan’s shows have never relied on critical acclaim to find an audience. Despite the polarizing opinions, the series’ popularity is clear. Sheridan has once again tapped into stories of power, land, and the American dream, this time filtered through the oil industry in West Texas.

What Can We Expect From ‘Landman’ Season 2?

Last month, production on Season 2 wrapped down in Fort Worth, and we got a pair of social media updates from cast members including Ali Larter and James Jordan. Filming began in late March and took the Landman team all across North Texas, including Fort Worth, TCU’s campus, and nearby towns like Springtown, Benbrook, Jacksboro, and Cresson. Larter — who plays Angela Norris in the series — posted an update on Instagram:

“That’s a wrap for season 2 of Landman! Our incredible cast and crew is playing at the top of their game. You can feel all the time, effort, love, laughter, and dedication that goes into making our show so special. I’m so thankful to be a part of this and can’t wait to share it with you.”

Jordan, who plays fan-favorite Dale, also confirmed that filming had wrapped:

“And that’s a wrap on Dale for season 2 of @landmanpplus. Lookin’ forward to ya’ll catching us starting this December on @paramountplus. All the hearts. All the love. Good to be home.”

Landman Season 2 premieres November 16, 2025, exclusively on Paramount+.
